We review the Jaguar XF from price to economy and all its features

SUN Motors put Jaguar’s new XF to the test in Spain – and we fell for the charms of a smooth operator.
Taking the F-word provoking F-Type to one side for a minute, Jaguar’s line-up of saloons has gone a bit identikit. Hasn’t it?
But that wide-grilled family face is not the only thing they are sharing.
From the compact XE to the stretched XJ, and now the just right XF, they all exhibit (sorry, BMW) sheer driving pleasure.
I took the all-new XF for a spin on northern Spain’s beautifully smooth mountain roads as well as the region’s F1-primed race track – and if the XF had a middle name it would be Composure.
Not the best of middle names, true, but a very real reward if you intend on spending much seat-time pounding Britain’s A-roads and M-ways.
Whilst shorter and lower than the outgoing XF, 2015’s remix not only looks longer it feels bigger inside with added leg and headroom.
And inside is more luxurious than ever, with extra comfy Windsor leather seats and stylishy simplified dashboard that expands on the XE’s upmarket triumph.
I tested the optional 10in InControl Touch Pro infotainment system too – not available until 2016 – which is easily the most intuitive, iPhone channelling system I’ve ever used.
Smoother than a cashmere codpiece and tech’d up to the nines. And it’s British too.
With all the pinch, drag and swipe functionality to make you feel instantly connected – Audi, BMW & Mercedes sure have some work to do to improve on this touchscreen dream.

The new aluminium-rich XF is 190kg lighter too, which pays dividends on the posh exec’s agile handling and economy at the pump.
Indeed, in its most frugal form, the new 2-litre diesel can deliver a staggering 70mpg and 104g/km – that’s nearly congestion charge free – and enough to beat every non-hybrid rival in its class.
Starting at the £32,000 Prestige and rising through R-Sport, pictured, and Portfolio trims to the top-of-the-range £49,945 S packing a cracking supercharged 3-litre V6 petrol lump in the front, Jaguar has provided a good spread.
The new business-class benchmark has arrived.
