We review the Hyundai i40 (2013) from price to economy and all its features

TESTED ... Hyundi i40Premium
NO firm can say their car is fit for a family until the Dorans have run the rule. Jon, Sheila, Jamie,20, and Christie, 18, and Alfie the labrador take no prisoners ...
THESE are happy times at Hyundai.
The range is selling well and the future looks bright — so much so that the Koreans have expanded their European production to half a million cars a year.
Their base in Izmit in Turkey has been developed to help cope with demand for the soon-to-be-released new i10 and i20 models.
At the same time, the new Santa Fe beat the Land Rover Discovery to be named Best Large SUV in the Auto Express New Car Awards.
And the i40 continues to make new friends. The Tourer is a stylish, yet practical, way to transport the family and all its paraphernalia.
But the saloon is also a top option. Christie had a job down south, so her race gear and the multitude of bags that come with an overnight stay were piled into the boot.
Sheila reckoned we would struggle. Jamie just laughed, especially when the piles of photographer baggage were dumped on the drive. Alfie just sniffed and wagged his tail, thinking he was coming along.
But we got everything in, with room to spare. Then we enjoyed the room in the car as we set off.

The i40 looks smart and is family-friendly. The sharp looks and efficient engines provide a healthy package.
It is Hyundai’s bid to push more upmarket — without the price tag, but the top-of-the-range models can be pricey. That said, it can now rival VW’s Passat. On the road, it is smooth and accomplished. The ride is excellent and the handling is sharp.
Inside, the quality is improved, and there is loads of room in the front and back.
The 1.7litre diesel goes from 0-62mph in 10.3 seconds and on up to 122mph. It feels solid and is good to drive. It said everything that we completed a 300-mile drive and felt as fresh as we had done at the start.
There are toys if you want to pay a little extra. Premium versions get 18in alloys, heated seats, touchscreen sat-nav, reversing camera, panoramic sun roof, keyless entry and start, and leather upholstery. That’s enough to make you smile.
