THE 10 most expensive cars to insure have been revealed, along with the 10 cheapest.

While the most economical car costs a mere £241 on average per year to insure, its more expensive counterpart can set motorists back £1,200, according to research by GoCompare.

Taking the top spot for biggest insurance bargains, the Peugeot 206 costs a mere £241, according to the data.

Coming in close second - and quite a surpring entry considering its luxurious heritage - is the Porsche Boxster, setting motorists back just £243.

Third is the Mazda MX-5 (£249), followed by the Toyota iQ (£262) in fourth and the Citroen Xsara (£272) in fifth.

Sixth is the Smart Fortwo (£282), with the Suzuki Grand (£283) in seventh and the Land Rover Freelander (£288) in eigth.

Ninth was the Renault Kangoo (£297), and finishing off the top ten cheapest cars was the Fiat Panda sitting at a cool £299.

The most expensive car to insure is the Porsche Taycan, costing a whopping £1,200.

Second is the Tesla Model Y, setting owners back £1,113.

Tied for third and fourth are the Land Rover Range Rover Velar and the BMW M4, both costing £1,091.

The Mercedes-Benz AMG costs £989 while the Land Rover Range Rover Sport comes in at £943.

Seventh is the BMW 330E (£923) while the Mercedes-Benz GLE (£913) is eighth.

The Audi e-tron (£899) is ninth, and finishing off the list in tenth place is the Tesla Model 3 (£896).
