VOLVO has revealed a new stunning new car that syncs sights, sounds and smells.
Passengers can select up to seven different themes, including the Northern lights, from the touch of a smartphone app.
Lighting in the roof will change and be matched to sounds and smells.
Small Bowers & Wilkins speakers in the headrest will play audio with scents pumped out from the centre console.
The S90 Ambience Concept, being unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show, is based on Volvo’s top-of-the-line S90 Excellence three-seater executive saloon targeted at rich Chinese businessman who like being chauffeured.
As well as the iconic Northern Lights, themes include Scandinavian Forest, Swan Lake, Archipelago and Rain - each providing a different mood.
There is also a Nocturnal theme for resting, while Freedom gives a boost of "fresh and uplifting energy".
Each theme is matched with one of four special scents, created by Byredo, which are emitted from the centre console.
It's the world's first ever "sensory experience" car, claims Volvo - a firm better better known for safe and conservative cars.
Robin Page said: "The Ambience Concept redefines luxury by taking it beyond material choices, creating a car that connects with your senses.
"We’re known for our human-centric approach to design and as an industry leader in advanced safety technology.
"Ambience reinforces this and shows our broader focus on human care, which starts with safety and also extends to general well-being.
Volvo plans to make the concept available in S90 Excellence production cars in China in the future.
