Dad is the perfect funny and heartwarming watch this Father’s Day

THIS gentle docu-pic about being a dad, and featuring celebrity talking heads, is just the thing to watch this Fathers’ Day.
American Bryce Dallas Howard makes her directorial debut — helped by her own dad, famous helmer Ron, who both produces and appears.
Combining a rich mix of pops’ tales with often hilarious contributions from the stars, Bryce covers pretty much all things dad.
There is the single dad, stay-at-home dad, absent dad, gay adoptive dad — and all with stories to tell.
All are winging it, all have imposter syndrome, all try to improve on their own up-bringing and all know being a dad is the hardest, most frustrating and most expensive experience we blokes ever face
But would we swap it? No.
We meet some famous faces — US telly hosts Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel, and actor-rapper Will Smith to name but a few.
All are deeply moved when talking about fatherhood — and candid about their failings. There are plenty of laughs, what with the nappy horrors and efforts to talk to teens about puberty and sex.
This is a film to make the lip wobble, so prepare yourself for some proper-ugly crying.

Dads peering into hospital incubators, remembering their own fathers or getting an unprompted “I love you” from their child were enough to send me over the edge.
If you are a secret fan of mushy pregnancy-announcement YouTube videos — and not-so-secret fan of your own dad, a.k.a. Greatest Man on Earth — you will love this film. Schmaltzy, earnest — and all the better for it.
PS: Happy Fathers’ Day, Dad — love you, old bean.
