DONALD Trump has slammed "gangs of anarchists and looters" for tearing down statues and said that the FBI is investigating "hundreds of people."
The president is continuing his bid to protect during the protests stemming from 's police custody death.
During a press briefing at on Wednesday, told reporters that the vandalism is being investigated.
"The FBI is investigating hundreds of people throughout the country for what they've done to monuments, statues and even buildings," the president warned.
"We have a law that's 10 years - it's 10 years, that's a long time to have fun one night."
Trump was accompanied by the President Andrzej Duda at the briefing who shared his thoughts on the destruction of the Polish American Revolution volunteer Tadeusz Kościuszko statue.
"For completely incomprehensible reasons for us, that monument was devastated," Duda said.
In a set of tweets later that night, Trump echoed his earlier comments while dubbing the vandals as "roving gangs."
He said: "Very sad to see States allowing roving gangs of wise guys, anarchists & looters, many of them having no idea what they are doing, indiscriminately ripping down our statues and monuments to the past.
"Some are great works of art, but all represent our History & Heritage, both....
"....the good and the bad. It is important for us to understand and remember, even in turbulent and difficult times, and learn from them.
"Knowledge comes from the most unusual of places!"
Trump then retweeted his June 23 statement condemning for not doing "something about the lowlifes that burn the American Flag."
"It should be stopped, and now!" the President raged.
It was also announced on Wednesday that Trump is to guard the statues.
obtained an email from Marshals Service Assistant Director Andrew C. Smith, who said they were "asked to immediately prepare to provide federal law enforcement support to protect national monuments."
The subject line read “Attorney General Assignment," which would indicate that the instruction came from Trump's Attorney General William Barr.
“This is a challenging assignment due to the breadth of possible targets for criminal activity,” Smith wrote.
