Outraged migrants ‘burn down refugee camp’ after they ‘didn’t receive a wake-up call for Ramadan breakfast’

Cops have launched an arson probe into claims lighter fluid-soaked mattresses sparked the devastating inferno.

Emergency crews treated 25 people for smoke inhalation at the scene.

According to the German newspaper Express, two Moroccans living at the centre said Iranian security staff at the facility had 'deliberately' not woken those observing Ramadan ahead of their scheduled breakfast time.

Ralf Herrenbrueck, a spokesperson for the prosecutors' service, said: "During this time of Ramadan, there was one group that wanted to strictly observe the fast, and another that insisted on the usual timetables and usual servings

"This had led on several occasions to disputes and altercations with officials of the German Red Cross.

"It got to the point where threats were made over what would happen if things didn't change, and that one threat was obviously implemented."

Police said they had been called to the giant centre 89 times since the start of 2016.

It is believed two 26-year-old North African men started the blaze by setting fire to their mattresses after pouring flammable liquid over them.

Footage from the incident saw huge flames and acrid smoke rising from the 65,000 sq ft warehouse.

Firefighters had been able to bring the blaze under control by Thursday afternoon.

The Sun reported last week how German authorities had foiled a plot by ten suicide bombers to blow themselves up in Dusseldorf.

Four of them men hailed from Syria and had smuggled their way into the country posing as refugees.
