CONTROVERSIAL cleric Anjem Choudary is ­backing Remain because the EU stops unfair deportations, he says.

The preacher, 48, said its human rights laws give better protection.

Choudary said: “When we talk about protections of human rights and civil liberties there’s some recourse, because of the EU, for people violated in terms of their rights.”

He said: “The British constitution rides roughshod over these.”

Choudary, who denies terror charges over Isis support, said terrorists would be “rubbing their hands”.

He also said Isis would like a Brexit because Scotland would go independent, making the Army smaller.

Choudary, former head of banned extremist network Al-Muhajiroun, said he would not be voting as “it is not allowed” for Muslims to take part.
