A 23-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following the savage assault with a butcher knife which left a movie fan fighting for his life
LIFE imitated art in a cinema in California when a man was brutally stabbed with a 'large kitchen knife' in the throat, arm and lung while watching a horror movie.
Adam Lucero, 21, was hospitalised following the frenzied attack which happened during a screening in Santa Rosa of fright-fest The Shallows which stars actress Blake Lively.
While Lucero reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries, police have now confirmed that he is expected to survive.
Investigators have also revealed that a 23-year-old man named Delonte Anthony Hart has been charged with attempted murder following the savage knife attack.
Police are currently investigating Hart who is homeless and originally from Maryland.
Authorities say the movie-loving victim did not know the attacker who stabbed him repeatedly as he sat in the Roxy theatre in Northern California at 4pm local time on Wednesday.

While the injured man was rushed to hospital, officers quickly located the weapon used in the assault.

Fellow cinemagoers helped the 21-year-old victim who suffered multiple wounds to his upper body.
Police confirmed that a 'large kitchen knife' was used in the attack and that Hart was arrested within minutes of the crime being reported.
The Mail Online reports that officers said Hart, who had recently been arrested for being drunk in public, appeared 'calm and nonchalant’ when he was detained.
The Santa Rosa Police department posted a statement on their Facebook page identifying Hart as the suspect.
The post said: “Many of you may have read about yesterday's stabbing arrest here or in the press.
“In today's update we would like to thank the witnesses who so quickly came to the victim's aid and also provided detailed descriptions of the attacker.
“Today we can report that the suspect in this case is a 23 year old man named Delonte Anthony Hart.
“Detectives are continuing to investigate Hart's background and recent activity, but we do know that he is from the state of Maryland, recently spent time in Alameda County, and has been homeless in Santa Rosa for about four months.
“The victim in this case, a 21 year old man from Southern California, is expected to survive and did not know Mr. Hart.”
