A HORRIFYING video re-enacts the moment a missile struck flight MH17 – two years since 298 were killed when the Malaysia Airlines jet was shot down.
Air crash investigators believe the Boeing 777 was downed over Ukraine by a surface-to-air rocket.
And the chilling footage reveals the full horror of how the Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur jet was hit.
Describing how they believe a BUK missile to be behind the tragedy, the Dutch investigators’ report states: “No scenario other than a BUK surface-to-air missile can explain this combination of facts.”
Robby Oehlers, a relative of one of the flight’s victims, added: "It was a BUK missile that hit the left upper part of the cockpit.”
Although not directly hit by the missile, MH17’s nose was shattered with pellets from the warhead.
All three pilots were killed immediately and the plane began to break apart in the air, eventually crashing into a field in an area held by pro-Russian separatists.
The report concluded: “The forward section of the aircraft was penetrated by hundreds of high-energy objects coming from the warhead.
“As a result of the impact and the subsequent blast, the three crew members in the cockpit were killed immediately and the airplane broke up in the air.
"Wreckage from the airplane was distributed over various sites within an area of 50 square kilometres. All 298 occupants were killed."
The investigation did not say whether it believed the missile was fired by pro-Russian separatists.
MH17 had been flying over the region, which was in the midst of a civil war between the rebels and Ukrainian armed forces.
Some families of those killed are attempting to take Russia and its president Vladimir Putin to the European Court of Human Rights.
The vast majority of families have also been paid damage by Malaysian Airlines after reaching an out-of-court agreement.
