After her husband's incarceration, the $70million she was left with was stripped away by the government.

Ruth was left with around $1-2million in assets.

In the immediate aftermath, Ruth went to immense lengths to avoid being recognized in public, even going so far as to dye her hair red.

While her husband was insistent in pleading for his wife to keep the $70million, the government still took her funds.

After her husband's arrest and conviction, Ruth was living with her sister in Boca Raton, Florida.

After spending two years down south, Ruth moved into her youngest son's, Andrew's, Old Greenwich home.

After Andrew's death, Ruth moved into a condo complex in the same town.

According to , her 4,000-square-foot waterfront home is valued at $3.8 million and is reportedly owned by her former daughter-in-law Susan Elkin, the first wife of Mark Madoff.

What is Ruth Madoff doing now?

In May of 2017, the then-77-year-old Ruth agreed to pay around $600k and surrender her assets when she passes away.

The funds will come from two major places, a quarter of a million in cash and $350,000 or so from her two grandsons' trusts.

The reason for the surrendering of assets is to continue paying back her husband's fraud.
