A DANGEROUS prisoner serving a life sentence for attempted murder is on the run after escaping from an open prison.
Gavin Owens, 33, absconded from Hollesley Bay open prison in Suffolk on Sunday night.
Owens, also known as Gavin Burrell, was serving an indeterminate sentence for attempted murder, GBH and ABH for slashing a man's throat during a brutal street fight in 2008.
The last confirmed sighting of him was in the prison at 11am on Sunday and police launched an appeal to find the lag this morning.

Owens is described as white, around 5ft 11ins tall, of medium build, with green eyes and very short brown hair.
He has several tattoos including a Celtic band on his right upper arm.
He has links to the Hinckley area of Leicestershire.
Member of the public are advised not to approach him but instead contact police.
