Hero teen Morgan Johnson saved his drowning dad from canal on a cycling trip – even though he’s terrified of water

A TEENAGE lad who is terrified of water jumped into a canal to save his father from drowning.
Neil Johnson, 48, and son Morgan, 16, were cycling along a towpath when the dad had a heart attack, came off his bike and fell in.
Morgan leapt in and held his dad’s head above the water in Hythe, Kent.
He said: "It was just me and my dad cycling, it's something we do all the time, but then suddenly he fell in out of the blue.
"I kind of swim, but I hate water. I did not even think about it. Anyone would do the same.
"He had a heart attack and I jumped in to get him out from under the water.
"It was awful but it's what anyone would have done."
Fellow cyclist Michael Doble, 69, stopped and helped get maintenance engineer Neil out.
He said: "Morgan was doing a good job of keeping Neil's head out of the water and I thought let's get him.
"Neil wasn't cooperating but we managed to get him onto the bank.
"It's so steep there that as I was pulling him, I was going towards the water."

Neil was rushed to hospital after three heart shocks and put in an induced coma but is now recovering at home.
Morgan said: "It's a miracle, dad is still here because of me and Michael."
Wife Tracey, 50, said of her son: “He is an absolute hero.”
"For somebody who doesn't like water he saved his dad's life.
"There was no water in his lungs and had they not got him out quickly it might have been a different story."
