Others involved in the crash were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

West Midlands Police are now investigating the devastating crash and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Chris Ridge, from the collision investigation unit, said: "A young baby has tragically died, this is devastating for her family and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.

"This is a busy road and we have spoken to a number of witnesses at the scene but we would still like to hear from anyone who saw what happened and has not yet spoken to an officer.

"It is essential that we piece together exactly what happened and I am keen to hear from anyone who can help us build a clear picture of the collision.

"Specialist officers from our family liaison unit are now supporting the family as they try and come to terms with their loss."
