Sleeping woman charged £85 for ‘five-minute’ Uber journey after driver ‘took 35 mile detour around London’
Comedian Hannah Warman said it wasn’t until the next morning that she realised what had happened

A SLEEPING woman was charged £85 for a “five minute” Uber journey after 'the driver took her on a 35 mile detour'.
Comedian Hannah Warman ordered the car to get home from a friend’s party to her home, a five-minute walk away.
But when she fell asleep in the back of the vehicle the driver looks to have taken her on a 35-mile, 90-minute trip around London.
Hannah told it wasn’t until the next morning that she realised what had happened.
She said: "The journey was only a five or ten minute walk, but decided to get an Uber because it was late and I thought it'd be safer."

Hannah added: "I had been drinking a bit and must have fallen asleep. I remember thinking it was taking a while, but I assumed maybe it was a new driver and he was lost.
"I'm usually nice to cab drivers so was very forgiving when I thought that might be the case. I was so tired that I went straight to bed when I got home.”

A map of the journey shows she set off at 4:30am from an address in North London and headed west towards Ealing, before doubling back and eventually arriving home in Stoke Newington.
Uber said it had given Ms Warman a "full refund" and said they are trying to establish exactly what happened.
But Hannah added: “I'm not going to use Uber from now on. Black cabs seem like the safer option.”
An Uber spokesperson said: “We have given the rider a full refund and are speaking to the licensed driver to establish exactly what happened.
"However, our systems show that the requested destination changed 3 times during the trip. Unlike other transport options Uber's technology records every trip and sends riders a receipt with a map of the route taken. This transparency and accountability means if there is an issue it can be quickly resolved."
