A SECURITY breach at Denver International Airport completely stopped all trains as passengers were reportedly "held on planes and gates shut down."

Enraged passengers took to shortly before 1pm local time on Monday to address a complete halt at the airport.

Airport officials quickly informed passengers about the issue, tweeting: "Trains have temporarily stopped due to a security incident at DEN. All passengers and employees are safe. Updates are coming soon."

According to reports, all trains to baggage claim and gates were stopped, and passengers were not allowed to deplane or board.

One flyer quickly took to Twitter and wrote: "What’s up at the Denver Airport? Boarding stopped. Deplaning stopped. Security stopped. Trains stopped. Not normal. But hopefully nothing."

Another passenger said: "Stuck on a plane at #denverairport and all flights have stopped boarding on or off…all they will say is there is a security issue."

Video from inside the airport showed trains standing on the station with the doors open as a line of passengers waited to board.

In a statement issued on Twitter, the airport said an individual descended the escalators in the arrivals area and bypassed security.

"The individual boarded a train before being apprehended by @DenverPolice. The individual is being investigated," Denver airport wrote.

Airport officials confirmed all passengers and employees were safe and normal operations resumed shortly after.
