ARMED cops have been pictured smashing down a front door in a dramatic raid following a reported shooting in South London.
Empty shall casings could be seen littering the floor and a section of Mitcham Lane in Streatham was shut shortly before 4pm due to the "police incident".
Workers in the area said police marksmen stormed the road after a gunshot was heard.
One woman, who didn't wish to be named, told the : “I was just in the manager’s office when we heard what sounded like a shot and then lots of shouting.
“We ran onto the roof and were told immediately to get back by police.
“There were about two cars and then suddenly another three turned up.
“We don’t really know what has happened but police said they think there is a gunman.
“All the shops are shut and the road has been taped off.”
Sommelier Pierre Mairesse, 30, was on his way from the shops when he saw a flood of police cars.
He told added: "The street was full of cops, they were all armed and there were sniffer dogs as well.
"I didn’t see what happened but the police said a firearm was involved.
“I wasn’t surprised to be honest, this area hasn’t got the best of reputations."
A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called at 15:10hrs on Wednesday 14 September to reports of shots fired at a location in Mitcham Lane, Wandsworth.
"Officers are currently on scene.
"To date no victim has been found, and there are no arrests. Enquiries continue."
Wandsworth Police tweeted to say they had closed off a nearby junction as they carry out investigations.
