Moscow police have launched an investigation after the woman died from her injuries she suffered in the crash
A PEDESTRIAN using her smartphone only realised she was about to be hit by a tram seconds before the collision, new video has revealed.
The horrific footage shows the woman standing on the tram tracks using her phone before she sees the tram bearing down on her.
The woman, who had been waiting to cross the busy Rusakovskaya Street, was rushed to hospital but died soon after.
The tram had just emerged from under a railway bridge before the collision.
The female driver appears to see the woman but it is too late.
The names of the victim and the driver have not been made public.
Concerns have been raised online about the age of the driver, while others have blamed the woman for concentrating on her phone rather than on the traffic.
It is unclear if the driver is continuing in her role.
Moscow police have launched an investigation.
