Labour slammed for anti-fracking policies which ‘hit the poor hardest’ and will mean higher costs for struggling households
GMB Scotland general secretary Gary Smith also tears into the Greens for their demands about fracked gas shipments

FURIOUS union chiefs today slammed Labour for threatening jobs and pushing struggling families deeper into fuel poverty with its fracking ban.
In a fresh blast the GMB said the party’s green push would mean higher costs for struggling households because of the huge subsidies needed to fund wind, solar and hydro technology.
Subsidies are passed back onto customers via electricity bills.
GMB Scotland general secretary Gary Smith said: “Green levies hit the poor hardest as it’s a flat tax, everyone pays the same, regardless of their income.
“The whole policy is crazy.”

The GMB also tore into the Greens for demanding the ‘fracked’ gas being shipped into Grangemouth from the US is the only shipment taken by plant owner Ineos.
The union said the arch lefties failed to realise that without the gas Grangemouth could close, leaving thousands out of work.
Mr Smith said: “Instead of indulging in King Canute stuff, the Greens should be entering in a real world debate about where we get our gas from.”
Labour Shadow Energy Secretary Barry Gardiner on Monday stunned his own MPs by vowing the party would ban fracking altogether if the party win the 2020 Election.
He said the 64,000 jobs the shale gas revolution could generate in the UK were “jobs of the past”.
