Jeremy Corbyn might finally win something as his supporters launch charity single in bid to become Christmas number one

JEREMY Corbyn's supporters have ambitious aims for the holiday season - hoping to see their leader elected as Prime Minister AND get their home-made single to reach No 1 in the Christmas charts.

A group of supporters are clubbing together to release their own song, and have put out a teaser video on social media.

Robb Johnson and the Corbynistas are hoping to get the hapless Labour leader in the charts by releasing 'JC for PM for me' later this month.

Dressed up in tinsel, elf hats and cosy Christmas jumpers, five lefties and a fiddle player merrily sing "we're voting Jeremy Corbyn, JC for PM for me," as they sip on pints in a pub and light up a Christmas pudding.

They are hoping to emulate the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust choir, who last year beat off Justin Bieber to be Christmas number one with 'A Bridge Over You'.

Another group are then seen punching the air as fake snow falls on them in an outdoor setting.

The video ends with the sound of jingle bells as someone eerily whispers "What do you want for Christmas?"

An extended video on YouTube includes the lyrics: "I like his ideas, they're fair and their clear, Jezza and me we agree. We're all for peace and justice... and anti-austerity."

Perhaps as a nod back to the times of the humble record player and to the start of Mr Corbyn's career in British politics,  the single will be released on vinyl as well as being available to download online.

All proceeds will go to the Trussell Trust charity, which runs a string of foodbanks.

Singer-songwriter Robb Johnson appeared with Mr Corbyn at his rallies during last summer's leadership campaign, performing a range of politically-charged songs. Mr Johnson has released more than 30 albums since 1985.

The single's release date is still to be confirmed.
