Horror as three-year-old tot airlifted to Scots hospital following terrifying incident

A TODDLER has been airlifted to hospital after a horror one-vehicle crash this afternoon.

Emergency services raced to the scene near New Pitsligo, Aberdeenshire, at around 12.45pm after receiving reports of the smash.

The three-year-old was taken by air ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

A black car spun off the road earlier today and ended up in a field.

A six-year-old boy and the 27-year-old female driver were also taken to the same hospital by road after the accident on the A98.

Police confirmed the road was closed in both directions for accident investigators to examine what had happened.

Pictures from the scene show the small car perched on top of a stone dyke.

The car, which suffered extensive damage, appeared to have gone through a barbed wire fence.

One of the wheels appeared to be almost detached from the motor and the door on the driver's side was left open.

The vehicle appeared to have come to a stop some distance from the road after the accident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a crash involving one car on the A98 near New Pitsligo around 12.45pm on Sunday, 26 March.

“A three-year-old boy has been taken by air ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

“A six-year-old girl and a 27-year-old woman have both been taken to the same hospital by road.

“Emergency services remain at the scene and the road is currently closed.”
