The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimate that 1.7 to 3.8million Americans have sports-related traumatic brain injury (TBI) each year, reports.

The study examined data from the National Trauma Data Bank for 5 sports: fall or interpersonal contact (FIC), roller sports, skiing/snowboarding, equestrian sports, and aquatic sports across a 10-year period.
Among adult TBIs, injuries sustained while riding horses accounted for the largest percentage, 45.2 percent.
Given the risk of TBIs, it's critical to concentrate on raising TBI awareness and encouraging helmet wear, particularly in equestrian sports.
