A BUS passenger was left with serious head injuries after someone opened fire on the vehicle with a SHOTGUN.
The man was travelling on the number 4 Diamond bus in Walsall at 7:45am, when bullets shattered the window.
Passengers thought his phone had exploded, as he was chatting on his mobile at the time of the incident.
But when the victim was rushed to hospital, doctors found metal shotgun pellets lodged in his head and ear.
West Midlands Police are now investigating the freak shooting on Weston Street, which occurred on November 22.

PC Martin Williams said: "Although it was not immediately clear what had happened, this is an extremely serious incident, and we are committed to finding the person responsible.
"We are still piecing together the circumstances and would urge anyone with information to get in touch with my team.
