Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg slams Trump’s policy to block Muslims and refugees

MARK ZUCKERBERG has criticised US President Donald Trump’s ban on Muslims and refugees in an emotional post on Facebook.
The founder of the social media giant said the United States was “a nation of immigrants” and that he was concerned by the President’s actions.
In the post, the 32-year-old wrote: “My great grandparents came from Germany, Austria and Poland. [My wife’s] parents were refugees from China and Vietnam.
“The United States is a nation of immigrants, and we should be proud of that.”
Yesterday President Trump signed an executive order denying people from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Libya and Somalia entry to the USA for 90 days.

Zuckerberg added: “These issues are personal for me even beyond my family. A few years ago, I taught a class at a local middle school where some of my best students were undocumented.
“They are our future too. We are a nation of immigrants, and we all benefit when the best and brightest from around the world can live, work and contribute here.
“I hope we find the courage and compassion to bring people together and make this world a better place for everyone.”
The new ban is part of a move that Trump has described as allowing for the “extreme vetting” of people travelling to America and to “keep terrorists out”.
He has also suspended the US Refugee Admissions Program for 120 days.
Visiting the State Department on Friday, he said: “We are establishing new vetting measures, to keep radical Islamic terrorists out of the United States of America.”
He added: “We don’t want ‘em here. We want to ensure we aren’t admitting into our country the very threats that our men and women are fighting overseas.”
Zuckerberg married his wife Priscilla Chan in 2012 after meeting each other as students at Harvard University in Massachusetts, USA.
Today seven people travelling from Cairo to New York were told they couldn’t board their flight despite having valid visas to enter the country.
