THE robotics firm Boston Dynamics has released footage of a truly terrifying new machine called Handle.
This super-scary new robot is fitted with four legs and two wheels, allowing it to jump like a kangaroo.
We first glimpsed the robot in a leaked video in which the machine's creator described it as "nightmare-inducing".
Now it has been officially announced, we have learned that it can speed along at nine miles per hour and carry objects that weigh up to 50kg.
“Handle uses many of the same dynamics, balance and mobile manipulation principles found in the quadruped and biped robots we build,” Boston Dynamics said.
“But with only about 10 actuated joints, it is significantly less complex. Wheels are efficient on flat surfaces while legs can go almost anywhere: by combining wheels and legs, Handle can have the best of both worlds.”
Handle was first unveiled in a video presentation by company founder Marc Raibert which was then uploaded to .
Raibert described Handle as an experiment "in combining wheels with legs" that has "a lot of knowledge of how to throw its weight around".
He said: "This is the debut presentation of what I think will be a nightmare-inducing robot.
Although Handle is yet to be let loose on the public, it could one day be governed by a set of robot rules and regulations.
