Trump declares Feb 9 ‘Gulf of America Day’ & vows to CHANGE name on Google as he doubles down on Canada being 51st state

DONALD Trump has declared February 9 the first ever "Gulf of America Day" and insisted Canada would be "much better off" it became an American state.
The President's land-grab plans have stepped up a notch as he confirmed Google Maps will change the basin's name today, while flying over the same waters.

Trump signed the proclamation, on February 9, on what he called his "first visit to the Gulf of America since its renaming", while flying to the Super Bowl in New Orleans.
The President signed an Executive Order on his inauguration day which renamed the basin.
As Trump signed the document on Sunday, his Secretary of the Interior - Doug Burgum - explained what the proclamation was.
Burgum said: "The button was pushed, it became official with this proclamation to call today Gulf of America Day, but now it's going out as we're sitting here right now."

The basin still appeared as the Gulf of Mexico on Google Maps, on Sunday, but Burgum revealed when Americans could expect to see the change online.
He added: "Our team is calling all the map providers so, Google Maps, Apple Maps, all the map people. That change will take effect this afternoon."
Trump called on Americans to "come together and commemorate" the historic day.
The proclamation said: "I call upon public officials and all the people of the United States to observe this day with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities."

This has not been the only major update Trump has made to his apparent US expansion plans, while on his way to watch the Super Bowl in person.

Trump claimed the US was losing billions of dollars each year to his northern neighbour.
The President said: "I think Canada would be much better off.
"We lose $200bn a year with Canada. And I'm not going to let that happen. It's too much."
Trump floated his shock takeover idea again, which he had proposed before his second inauguration.
He added: "Why are we paying $200bn a year essentially in subsidy to Canada? Now, if they are a 51st state, I don't mind doing it."
Trump's fresh remarks on Canada came in response to Justin Trudeau's hot mic blunder where he revealed his "real" fears over Canada being "annexed".
On Saturday, Trump’s national security adviser Mike Waltz said it was unlikely that the US would invade and annex it's neighbour, per .
Waltz claimed that many Canadians “do not like the last 10 years of liberal, progressive governance in Trudeau".
Trump's Fox interview did not stop with his remarks on Canada, as he continued to throw his support behind tech billionaire Elon Musk, who he said would discover "fraud" across government departments.
The Tesla boss now runs the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) which aims to cut costs and bureaucracy.
He said: "I'm going to tell him very soon, like maybe in 24 hours, to go check the Department of Education. He's going to find the same thing."
"Then I'm going to go to the military, let's check the military. We're going to find billions, hundreds of billions of dollars of fraud and abuse.
"And, you know, the people elected me on that."

DOUBLE DOWN
Trump's flight to the Super Bowl on Air Force One was filled with even more reinforcement on his foreign policy and trade threats.
The commander-in-chief announced he would impose 25 per cent tariffs on all steel and aluminium imports.
He also threatened that he would announce reciprocal tariffs on certain countries tomorrow, but did not reveal which ones would be hit.
Trump said: "If they charge us, we charge them."
This comes just days after he shelved plans to slap 25 per cent tariffs on Canadian and Mexican goods for 30 days.
The Republican had this move after he managed to secure a stronger border with his two neighbors through a $1.3billion plan and 10,000 troops.
Trump's Air Force One comments also doubled down on his shock proposal to take over Gaza to create a "Riviera of the Middle East".
