Body found in search for missing walker, 20, who disappeared on ‘hard and strenuous’ Snowdon path

The death is not being treated as suspicious

THE BODY of a 20-year-old hiker was found on Mount Snowdon on Tuesday May 25.

The man, named only as John, was reported missing on Monday.

He was last seen on the Llanberis Path at around 5:40pm.

Search teams found the man's body at around 10am Tuesday on the mountain, which is known as Yr Wyddfa in Welsh.

A North Wales Police spokeswoman said:  “Sadly, the body of a man has been discovered on Yr Wyddfa shortly before 10am this morning, Tuesday May 27."

They identified the man as a 20-year-old named John from the West Sussex area.

They added: “Our deepest condolences remain with John’s family and friends at this difficult time."

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a coroner has been informed.
