THERESA May started moving her vast collection of cook books into Downing Street today more than a week after David Cameron bid his old pad farewell.

The new PM’s move has been delayed because the Camerons needed more time to pack their belongings.

Mrs May's sudden takeover left her predecessor with just 48 hours’ notice to leave the two-storey family flat above No11. Mrs May agreed to stay on in her nearby flat in Victoria as David Cameron got his affairs in order.

But today removal vans from Bishop's Move were spotted arriving in Downing Street with the PM and her husband Philip’s possessions.

Mrs May, who is set to meet President Francois Hollande in France this evening, will be looking forward to unpacking her 100-plus cookbooks into the built-in shelves in the flat’s designer kitchen.

The couple are expected to move into the official residence over the weekend.

Samantha Cameron splashed £25,000 renovating the room, with a luxury Roundhouse design featuring brushed steal and marble.

The Cameroons’ taste for interiors appear to clash with the former Home Secretary’s. The few pictures of her Berkshire home reveal understated and old fashioned taste at odds with her trendy fashion choices.
