  • What next?

After all that, we only have a week to wait until we do it all over again!

Scotland play hosts to France at Murrayfield in the opening game next Saturday.

Wales are at Twickenham in the evening kick off before Ireland vs Italy on Sunday.

  • Match report

SCOTLAND survived a Wales fightback to get off to a winning start in the Six Nations.

The Scots were seemingly en route to an easy victory, racing into a 27-0 lead after 42 minutes.

Winger Duhan van der Merwe scored two tries, with Finn Russell finding his groove with his conversions.

Prop Pierre Schoeman also crossed the try line for the visitors as they looked like racking up a record score.

But yellow cards for hooker George Turner and centre Sione Tuipulotu killed their momentum as the match swung.

Wales, who picked up two bonus points, burst into life, using their numerical advantage to great effect.

  • How we stand

How the table looks after the first round of matches.

Wales with that bonus point which Scotland missed out on.

Ireland lead the way - the French the only pointless side.

  • Adams reacts

Josh Adams reckons complacency was WALES' downfall in the first half.

The wing told S4C: "Half time that game could have been a bad score had we continued the way we were going.

"Second half we tried to play with tempo and get at Scotland. We were too complacent in the first half, kicked too much when we could have played.

"We wanted to play with the ball a bit more in the second half after not throwing anything against Scotland in the first half.

"The boys from the bench made a huge impact on the game and got us right back in the game, hopefully we can carry that on to next week."

  • Townsend speaks

Gregor Townsend reveals some of Scotland's players are GUTTED at how the game finished.

But he reckons it's a major win for Scottish rugby.

He told BBC One: "Half time that game could have been a bad score had we continued the way we were going.

"Second half we tried to play with tempo and get at Scotland. We were too complacent in the first half, kicked too much when we could have played.

"We wanted to play with the ball a bit more in the second half after not throwing anything against Scotland in the first half.

  • Discipline costly

Two yellow cards in that second half for Scotland.

Amongst it, an incredible 14 successive penalties were conceded by Scotland.

Complacency might've played a big part but that discipline could've been hugely costly.

  • Doddie Cup

The Scotland players have been handed the Doddie Weir Cup.

It's the annual trophy these sides battle for in the name of the late Scotland legend.

It's the first time they've lifted it in this city...

  • Welsh reaction

Wales' Wainwright told BBC's coverage: "We probably wanted the game to go on another five minutes.

"We left ourselves too much to do, and were probably not accurate enough in the first half. A lot of their ball came from our errors.

"As the scoreboard kept ticking down the belief grew, but first-half inaccuracies cost us."

  • The curse is over

Amongst all the second half drama, it's easy to forget that this is clearly a tough place for Scotland to come.

They've now won in Cardiff for the first time in 22 years!

Strangely, with all the positivity surrounding Wales in that second half, they're being given all the plaudits despite the defeat.

But Scotland will soon realise they've done something they haven't for almost a quarter of a century and should be proud of their own efforts.

  • MOTM

Wales' number eight Aaron Wainwright was awarded man of the match.

Easy to remember the second half showing and he led the charge from the front at that point.

Nobody could've predicted a red shirt would take that award at half time - and maybe even still at the end given he ended on the losing side....

  • Remarkable game

It's a cliche 'a game of two halves'.

But it absolutely sums this one up, with Scotland 20-0 up at half time.

Duhan van der Merwe then added a try just a couple of minutes into the second half.

It looked a case of 'how many' at that point.

Suddenly, Wales got a grip and battled back incredibly and end up going down by a point.

  • Wales 26-27 Scotland

    The TMO agrees.

It won't be a hat trick - and won't be a bonus point for Scotland.

On-field decision is no Try for Van der Merwe.

    79. PENALTY ADVANTAGE SCOTLAND!!

And they drive into the corner and go down a couple of metres from the line!!

  • Wales 26-27 Scotland

    79. So much pressure on the scrum here. Which way will it go.

The latest decision is...we do it again.

  • Wales 26-27 Scotland

    78. Frustration for Wales, a handling error as the ball is passed forward just inside their own half.

A huge roar from the Scotland scrum-half as the end is in sight.

There's still so much to do before then, though. Scotland scrum.

  • Wales 26-27 Scotland

    76. Scotland make a mess of their lineout!!

Wales have the ball in the middle of the field now - incredible drama with a few minutes to go.

    75. Calamity for Wales as Scotland pinch the lineout!

It's now a kicking contest as Winnett does eventually kick into touch, not far inside the Scotland half.

  • Wales 26-27 Scotland

    74. Wales defending well as Scotland keep possession and make territory slightly.

But a charge down sees a loose ball on halfway and Wales get the penalty!

And Wales have collected the bonus point.

  • Wales 26-27 Scotland

    69. Incredible scenes here in Cardiff.

The Scotland defence are out on their feet and Wales are clinical once more.

From the lineout, it's a clever but relatively easy breakout which Mann leads and he dives over - just moments after that sensational tackle.

Conversion goes through too and the gap is now one point.

  • WOOOOW!! IT'S ANOTHER WALES TRY!!

Alex Mann - on debut - goes over!

  • Wales 19-27 Scotland

    67. Penalty advantage Wales as Dyer looks to have got free.

Scotland retreat in numbers and Wales have to switch it to the right.

A knock-on in the centre of the pitch sees the game brought back for that penalty.
