THE Olympic opening ceremony suffered a major tech glitch after a big screen completely cut out as heavy rainfall descends on the French capital.
Thousands of fans lined the River Seine as Paris 2024 officially kicked off with a stunning outdoor show.
The major hiccup came an hour into the £100m opening ceremony.
Giant screens were showing the parade events further up the river to large crowds near the Eiffel Tower.
However, the weather took a turn for the worse during the celebrations as France suffer from the heaviest period of rainfall for 30 years.
Spectators looked glum as they adorned transparent water-proof macs while sitting to watch the extravaganza on the river.

The jumbo screen at the Trocadero appeared to suffer a blackout as a result of the dreary weather.
Fans hoping to see Andy Murray and his Team GB colleagues on one of the screens were left disappointed as the elements ruined what should have been a fantastic event.
Viewers were also left complaining as the noise of the rain sounded out Lady Gaga's voice in the microphone.
The weather got worse at the opening ceremony, before a new challenge entered the fray: waves.
