‘Cardboard beds are not a vibe’ – Team GB hero gives scathing review of Paris 2024 Olympic village ahead of homecoming
Campbell was more optimistic about the beds before the Games
TWO-TIME Olympic medallist Emily Campbell is looking forward to being back in her own bed.
The weightlifting star gave a scathing review of the sleeping arrangements in Paris, with many other athletes in agreement.

While aboard the Eurostar on her way back to London, Campbell told the BBC: "I can't wait to sleep in my own bed.
"I know it sounds so... but honestly the cardboard beds are not a vibe. I'm looking forward to going home seeing my family because I haven't been able to catch up with them."
Competitors slept on single beds made from cardboard - with many athletes - including Simone Biles - vocally criticising their comfortability.
While they were dubbed so-called "anti-sex" beds, others such as Tom Daley silenced such rumours after confirming the structures are indeed sturdy.

Campbell claimed Great Britain's 65th and final medal of the Paris Olympics with bronze in the women's +81kg weightlifting.
This added to the silver gong she picked up in the +87kg category in Tokyo three years ago.
The 30-year-old finished with a career best total of 288kg, lifting 126kg in the snatch and 162kg in the clean and jerk at the South Paris Arena.
Campbell celebrated with a cartwheel across the stage before congratulating China's Li Wenwen, who took gold, and silver medallist Park Hye-jeong of South Korea.

The Nottingham-born star was previously more optimistic about beds inside the Olympic Village before the Games.

“They did this thing in Tokyo where they made these cardboard beds, so the beds were literally made from cardboard in the village.
“It was for recycling purposes, but everyone branded it as the ‘anti-sex bed’ because it would break.
“One of the weightlifters, one of my boys in the team, he's from the Netherlands and he's a hundred and seventy odd kilos.
“And he’s fine on the bed. So I was like, if you’re a gymnast or whatever, you can have a party on that bed, really, can’t you?"
She also won gold at the European Championships in 2022 and 2023, and also at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022, before heading to Paris.
