Emery's men went ahead via Jhon Duran's 79th minute wonder-strike.

They subsequently held out to take all three points, with goalkeeper Emi Martinez making some crucial late saves.

The final whistle was greeted by scenes of pandemonium in the stands, with fans passionately celebrating their team's triumph.

Villa's players also hugged and beamed on the pitch following their amazing result.

Emery, meanwhile, cut a calm figure on the touchline.

Rather than go wild or start demonstratively fist pumping towards the Holte End, the Villa boss merely shook hands with his opposite number Vincent Kompany.

He then strode purposefully down the touchline, applauding fans who serenaded him along the way.

After a quick hug with a staff member, Emery then made his way down the tunnel, high-fiving a few fans as he did so.

While a second added: "Very true. He's a class act."

A third agreed: "YES! It is exactly that! He sets the team up to what he thinks gives them the best chance of winning a game of football. Then, he leaves the players to take all the credit. I absolutely love the man."

And a fourth claimed: "Planning for Sunday already."

After the game, Emery told TNT Sports: "We want to be consistent to play in Europe."

On super-sub Duran, he added: "We are working with him. Most important is his attitude. He's available to play 90, 60, 30 minutes. He's been focusing each minute he's playing.

"Today we had two very good strikers. It's fantastic for him and the team.

"Against teams like that, it's very important to be strong. Martinez did an amazing job, amazing saves.
