Former Reds boss' Crystal Palace stunned Man City at the Etihad on Saturday but Roy says there's everything to play for

ROY HODGSON has urged Pep Guardiola not to worry about Manchester City's loss to Crystal Palace, saying Liverpool will slip-up in their race for the title.

The former Reds boss' Eagles stunned City 3-2 at the Etihad on Saturday afternoon, but Roy says there's everything to play for.

Guardiola had hoped to close the gap on Liverpool, having seen the Reds beat Wolves 2-0 on Friday night to extend their lead at the top of the table to four points.

But after taking an early lead, Palace hit back with three goals of their own to shellshock the Etihad faithful.

Speaking on the title race, Hodgson claimed: "I don't think Pep Guardiola will be too concerned about a four-point gap with 20 games left to play.

"One of those is going to be against Liverpool, but even without that game the chances are that Liverpool will go somewhere and something like this will happen.

"Someone will beat them against the odds, there is a long way to go yet and there will be an upset somewhere along the line.

"I am sure the only disappointment for Pep will be having so much of the ball and being able to buzz around our final third as much as they were able to do without creating as many chances as they would have liked.

"But I would like to think he will give Crystal Palace a bit of credit for that.

"His side were able to ask a lot of questions but we managed to come up with the answers."

Man City face Leicester on Boxing Day and Southampton on Deceber 30, before hosting Liverpool on January 3 in a crucial festive kick-off.

Liverpool are hunting their first-ever Premier League title, while City are aiming to make it four crowns in the last eight seasons.

Guardiola led his City team to an incredible year last term, notching 100 points and scoring 106 goals en route to an incredible league victory.

But things have been somewhat more difficult this term, with Liverpool in particular showing a vast improvement from 2017-18.
