The first seems pretty innocent, with 2 + 4 = 6.

But the next goes off, with 3 +5 = 12.

The final clue is 4 + 6 = 20.

Despite the trick in the first sum, it's not 2 plus 4, it's actually 2 multiplied by 4 minus 2... which also gives 6.
