The best pizzeria in the UK has been revealed – & it charges £149 to anyone ordering pineapple pizza
THE best pizza spot in the UK has been revealed - and it's the second time they've won the award.
Pizza is one of the most popular dishes in the UK, with Brits expected to eat over 5,000 slices in their lifetime.
Those Brits who want to spend their time eating great pizza will need to head down to Chelmsford in Essex, where a local restaurant has been named as the best pizzeria in the country.
The restaurant, Taste of Italy, has been crowned the Best Independent Pizza Restaurant in the UK at the Pasta and Pizza Association Industry Awards.
Set in Chelmsford, this isn't the first time has nabbed the accolade either - it also won the title last year too.
The family-run restaurant first opened in 2020, and it is owned by husband and wife duo Sergio Teacu and Lucia Pronesti.
Despite opening during the Covid-19 pandemic, the pizzeria has thrived and it's been dishing up tasty pizzas ever since.
Their best-selling pizzas include the Margherita, the Pepperoni, and the Nduja and Burrata, with prices starting from £14.99 for a 13-inch pizza.
According to the local newspaper, , Taste of Italy does have the controversial pineapple pizza on its menu.
But customers who want to order a pineapple pizza will need to fork out £149, which is the restaurant's funny way of deterring any orders.

The award-winning restaurant also serves up other authentic Italian dishes like Bruschetta, deep-fried calamari, and Sicilian arancini.
Set on Duke's Walk in Chelmsford, Taste of Italy is a four-minute walk from Chelmsford Train Station.
The pizza bar is open six days a week, with it being closed on Mondays.
Mr Teacu told : "We are a small family business. We have a small pizzeria and we import 90 per cent of our ingredients from Italy - all our flour, cheeses, cured meats, and olives. Just the fresh vegetables are locally sourced.
"Also all of our wines are Italian. We employ 11 people, and we are a young team of 18 to 34 years old.
"We opened on September 25, 2020, and from the second year we started winning awards and being nominated to various competitions."
The Chelmsford Pizzeria is also positively reviewed by diners on TripAdvisor.
Some customers have also said it's the "best pizza outside Italy" too.
One person said: "We keep going back as it’s the best pizza outside of Italy, we love our pizza and can highly recommend Taste of Italy."
Another wrote: "The best pizza I ever had, the taste is amazing and has all the right flavours."
While a third person added: "Everything is delicious and authentic, and the staff are so amazing. It's the only pizza place I will order from in all of England. It's the best!"
The best pizza in the world is also in the UK.
Chef Michele Pascarella is the founder of the restaurant Napoli on the Road in Chiswick, West London.
He was recently named Global Pizza Maker of the Year 2023 at the World 50 Top Pizza Awards.
