They bought their pad in Croydon 19 years ago yet as their two teenage daughters and one teen son grew up they realised they were cramped for space.

Images showed clothes crammed into closets and storage rooms filled with fitness equipment.

The team worked hard to "redesign the jam-packed house on a modest budget" - in a template fans demanded was replicated across season four.

One Your Home Made Perfect viewer took to Twitter to write: "Lovely family tonight on #yourhomemadeperfect It just shows what a big difference a little bit of extra room and a better layout can make to your home. Not everyone needs a grand designs vanity project to be happy."

Another demanded: "I like this family, and I like the modified design. In keeping with the times. We need more of these for real people."

A third then wrote: "This weeks #yourhomemadeperfect was brilliant. Lovely family and a very sensible design pivot. Where was the prefab from?"

One added: "Lovely family at least they got something and it looks great. I was worried about those weird hit and miss stairs anyway."

Another joked: "Lovely episode. Goes to show it's not just middle class t**ts (like me) who benefit from this process. What a lovely family."

It was a far cry from some of the latest episodes of the BBC Two show.

Recently, furious Your Home Made Perfect viewers called for the show to be taken off air due to "insensitive" comments.

The BBC series made repeated references to the ill-fated Titanic cruise liner in an episode that aired amid the huge search operation for a missing submarine that disappeared on a mission to visit the doomed vessel.

While the programme was filmed before the sub's disappearance, viewers felt it shouldn't have aired at all.

One wrote on Twitter: "Given the world news atm... you'd think the BBC would've pulled 'your home made perfect' with its numerous mentions of the Titanic! Its in very bad taste..."

Another agreed: "Unbelievable just said the same thing."

They were left equally outraged this month as a BBC actress appeared to get a "free" home.
