2024 is going to be packed full of TV gold!

THE upcoming year is about to get even more exciting with new and returning TV shows landing on ITV, BBC, Channel 4, C5, Disney+ and Sky Atlantic.

A list of the 24 best shows landing on national TV, including a new season of Trigger Point and Love Island: All-Stars, plus the return of Wheel of Fortune, have now been revealed by The Sun's TV Mag.

They have put together a list of 24 must-watch shows in 2024, and here they are:

Trigger Point - ITV1

The mind behind the world of Line of Duty, Jed Mercurio, has created a second series of this compelling thriller, which follows a bomb disposal squad. 

Season two will see Afghanistan veteran turned explosives officer Lana Washington, played by Vicky McClure, pulled back into action after a bomb goes off in the City of London.

A release date has yet to be confirmed, but the series is set to air in January.

Breathtaking - ITV1

Downtown Abbey star Joanne Froggatt takes the lead in another unflinching and hard-hitting drama based on doctor and writer Rachel Clarke's unshakeable personal memoir of the most significant public health crisis in living memory.

The 3-part TV adaptation will be released sometime next year and tells the story of the brave NHS patients and frontline workers during the start of the first COVID-19 pandemic.

Wheel Of Fortune - ITV1

BAFTA award winner Graham Norton will be hosting the revived iconic game show, which last had contestants and its audience in a spin 23 years ago.

The epic game show will once again follow its old format and be centred around a giant carnival wheel that contestants must spin to get a chance to walk away with a life-changing cash prize.

Gladiators - BBC1

The hit 90s sports competition is back after 23 years of screens! And father and son duo Bradley and Barney Walsh will be hosting the highly anticipated new series. 

Sixteen new competitors will star in the BBC reboot, with the British public going up against the trained professionals in several head-to-head competitions throughout the series.

After The Flood - ITV1

When an unidentified body is discovered in an underground car park following a massive flood, PC Joanna Marshall, played by Sophie Rundle, is tasked to investigate. 

Things go from bad to worse when the open investigation threatens to expose the townspeople's secrets.

After the Flood will hit screens on January 10 on ITV1 and ITVX in the UK, followed by an international debut on BritBox later in 2024.

The new gripping legal drama Showtrial will be returning on screens with a fresh cast, including BAFTA award winner Adeel Akhtar, The Batman star Nathalie Armin, and This Is England actor Michael Socha. 

The new series will centre around a hotly contested criminal trial involving the hit-and-run death of a climate activist that has divided the nation and takes place in the full glare of the media spotlight.

Wolf Hall - BBC1

The BFG star Mark Rylance and Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood’s Damian Lewis will be reprising their roles in the second and final six-episode series of the acclaimed 2015 drama based on Hilary Mantel’s novels about the life of Thomas Cromwell.

Wolf Hall's second season is an adaptation of Hillary's The Mirror and the Light of the same name, and the new series will tell the story of Thoma's final years, from 1536 until he died in 1540.

Filming for the series has begun, so a release date is yet to be announced.

The upcoming BBC detective series starring Doctor Who’s Sacha Dhawan as a troubled Bradford detective, Harry Virdee, whose Sikh family has disowned him for marrying a Muslim woman.

The new six-part series, which is currently in production, is based on AA Dhand’s best-selling crime novels and will follow the detective as he tries to catch a killer who mainly targets the Asian community.

When a fire brings disaster to a holiday home in Lancashire, the resulting investigation threatens to tear Detective Ember Manning, played by Doctor Who star Jenna Coleman's life apart. 

In this new dark four-part series for BBC One and BBC iPlayer, the detective must figure out the connection between a journalist investigating a missing persons cold case and an illicit ‘love’ triangle between two underage girls and a man in his twenties.

Happy Valley creator and BAFTA-award winner Sally Wainwright is the mind behind this six-part drama, which follows five middle-aged women who decide to form a punk band to get their voices heard.

The drama series from Doctor Foster producers Drama Republic will see the women dealing with demanding jobs, grown-up children, dependent parents, useless husbands  and menopause.

Prue Leith's Cotswold Kitchen - ITV1

Well-loved Bake Off judge Dame Prue Leith and her husband, John Playfair, will be inviting the nation into their Cotswolds home for a Saturday morning feast of cooking, chat and special guests.

The show, which will land on ITV and ITVX in February 2024, will contain 10 episodes in which the cooking grande and her right-hand man will share their top kitchen hacks and culinary shortcuts to help simplify cooking. 

Prue has described the new series as ‘simply delicious romp’.

The new conspiracy thriller is based on the first-hand experiences of a long-serving witness protection officer and will unmask the story of what happens when the system that's meant to protect witnesses fails.

Granchester's James Norton will star alongside Malpractice's Niamh Algar in this new emotional drama.

Grace Ofori-Attah's adaptation of JP Delaney's best-selling novel of the same name follows the heartbreaking story of two separate couples who discover their toddlers were switched at birth during a hospital mix-up.

The couples will have to decide whether to keep the sons they have raised and loved or get back their biological sons.

Love Island All Stars - ITV2
