The 24 must-watch shows in 2024 – from Trigger Point to Wolf Hall
THE upcoming year is about to get even more exciting with new and returning TV shows landing on ITV, BBC, Channel 4, C5, Disney+ and Sky Atlantic.
A list of the 24 best shows landing on national TV, including a new season of Trigger Point and Love Island: All-Stars, plus the return of Wheel of Fortune, have now been revealed by The Sun's TV Mag.
They have put together a list of 24 must-watch shows in 2024, and here they are:
Trigger Point - ITV1
The mind behind the world of Line of Duty, Jed Mercurio, has created a second series of this compelling thriller, which follows a bomb disposal squad.
Season two will see Afghanistan veteran turned explosives officer Lana Washington, played by Vicky McClure, pulled back into action after a bomb goes off in the City of London.
A release date has yet to be confirmed, but the series is set to air in January.

Breathtaking - ITV1
Downtown Abbey star Joanne Froggatt takes the lead in another unflinching and hard-hitting drama based on doctor and writer Rachel Clarke's unshakeable personal memoir of the most significant public health crisis in living memory.
The 3-part TV adaptation will be released sometime next year and tells the story of the brave NHS patients and frontline workers during the start of the first COVID-19 pandemic.
Wheel Of Fortune - ITV1
BAFTA award winner Graham Norton will be hosting the revived iconic game show, which last had contestants and its audience in a spin 23 years ago.
The epic game show will once again follow its old format and be centred around a giant carnival wheel that contestants must spin to get a chance to walk away with a life-changing cash prize.

The new gripping legal drama Showtrial will be returning on screens with a fresh cast, including BAFTA award winner Adeel Akhtar, The Batman star Nathalie Armin, and This Is England actor Michael Socha.
The new series will centre around a hotly contested criminal trial involving the hit-and-run death of a climate activist that has divided the nation and takes place in the full glare of the media spotlight.
Wolf Hall - BBC1
The BFG star Mark Rylance and Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood’s Damian Lewis will be reprising their roles in the second and final six-episode series of the acclaimed 2015 drama based on Hilary Mantel’s novels about the life of Thomas Cromwell.
Wolf Hall's second season is an adaptation of Hillary's The Mirror and the Light of the same name, and the new series will tell the story of Thoma's final years, from 1536 until he died in 1540.
Filming for the series has begun, so a release date is yet to be announced.
The Fortune Hotel - ITV1
Stephen Magan will be hosting the thrilling and high-octane new reality entertainment series launching in 2024.
Contestants will get the chance to win a jackpot of £250,000 in this nerve-shredding 8-part reality series set in an exotic luxury Caribbean resort filled with opulence, deception, and glamour.
Return To Paradise - BBC1
The latest Death In Paradise Austarilan spin-off whisks us Down Under to follow the perplexing investigations of former Met Police officer Mackenzie Clarke.
Filming for the new series, which combines the DNA of the original global smash hit BBC murder mystery series with a new, unique Australian outlook, is currently underway.

Booker Prize-winning author Bernardine Evaristo’s book is being adapted into an eight-part drama starring Line of Duty’s Lennie James as an exuberant Londoner with a deep, dark, long-held secret.
Cast members for the new drama series, which has been described as “a life-affirming story about family, love, and being true to yourself", is yet to be announced.
Virdee - BBC1
The upcoming BBC detective series starring Doctor Who’s Sacha Dhawan as a troubled Bradford detective, Harry Virdee, whose Sikh family has disowned him for marrying a Muslim woman.
The new six-part series, which is currently in production, is based on AA Dhand’s best-selling crime novels and will follow the detective as he tries to catch a killer who mainly targets the Asian community.
Saturday Night Takeaway - ITV1
Ant and Dec will return for the 20th series of the hit ITV talk show before the show takes an extended break.
Ahead of the final upcoming series, the duo surprised fans after revealing that Little Ant & Dec will be featured in the new series, with casting underway to find younger versions of the comedic double-act.
The Jetty - BBC1
When a fire brings disaster to a holiday home in Lancashire, the resulting investigation threatens to tear Detective Ember Manning, played by Doctor Who star Jenna Coleman's life apart.
In this new dark four-part series for BBC One and BBC iPlayer, the detective must figure out the connection between a journalist investigating a missing persons cold case and an illicit ‘love’ triangle between two underage girls and a man in his twenties.
Hot Flush - BBC1
Happy Valley creator and BAFTA-award winner Sally Wainwright is the mind behind this six-part drama, which follows five middle-aged women who decide to form a punk band to get their voices heard.
The drama series from Doctor Foster producers Drama Republic will see the women dealing with demanding jobs, grown-up children, dependent parents, useless husbands and menopause.
Prue Leith's Cotswold Kitchen - ITV1
Well-loved Bake Off judge Dame Prue Leith and her husband, John Playfair, will be inviting the nation into their Cotswolds home for a Saturday morning feast of cooking, chat and special guests.
The show, which will land on ITV and ITVX in February 2024, will contain 10 episodes in which the cooking grande and her right-hand man will share their top kitchen hacks and culinary shortcuts to help simplify cooking.
Prue has described the new series as ‘simply delicious romp’.
Protection - ITV1
Benidorm star Siobhan Finneran and The Long Shadow's Katherine Kelly will be featuring in ITV’s new shady, risky drama that explores the gritty world of witness protection.
The new conspiracy thriller is based on the first-hand experiences of a long-serving witness protection officer and will unmask the story of what happens when the system that's meant to protect witnesses fails.
Password - ITV1
Chatty man Alan Carr and Daisy May Cooper are competing team captains for this hilariously new word association game show based on the hit US series.
It's going to be a busy year for Stephen Mangan, as he will also be hosting the 7 part series where teams must try and get on each other’s wavelengths as they take turns to guess the all-important password across multiple rounds.
Playing Nice - ITV1
Granchester's James Norton will star alongside Malpractice's Niamh Algar in this new emotional drama.
Grace Ofori-Attah's adaptation of JP Delaney's best-selling novel of the same name follows the heartbreaking story of two separate couples who discover their toddlers were switched at birth during a hospital mix-up.
The couples will have to decide whether to keep the sons they have raised and loved or get back their biological sons.
Love Island All Stars - ITV2
The nation's favourite dating show is back in full effect but with a twist. For
Maya Jama will host the new series, where famed former Islanders will return to the playing grounds in South Africa for a second shot at love.
Alice & Jack - C4
Doctor Who star Aisling Bea and Sex Education’s Aimee Lou Wood will be featured in Channel 4’s new and upcoming honest, funny romantic drama about a couple searching for happiness.
The upcoming series displays love in all its unexpected, technicolour, kaleidoscopic beauty while making it both heart-wrenching and unmissable.
Coma - C5
Family man Simon played by Jason Watkins, decides to confront a gang of teenagers terrorising the neighbourhood, only for his split-second decision to have shocking consequences.
Speaking about the forthcoming four-part limited series, Jason said: "I cannot wait to get stuck into playing Simon in Coma, this character faces an agonising situation that will keep viewers questioning their own morals.
“I’m sure it will be a thrilling and emotionally charged experience."
The Bear - Disney+
Season 3 of the Critically acclaimed, award-winning hit series FX’s The Bear is back next year, following the food, family, the insanity of the grind, the beauty of Sense of Urgency and the steep, slippery downsides.
Can Carmy, played by Jeremy Allen White, make a success of his restaurant? And will him, Claire and Ritchie make up? All will be revealed in the upcoming new series of the US drama.
The Tattooist Of Auschwitz - Sky Atlantic
This upcoming series created by Peacock Stan and Sky Atlantic is based on the book of the same name by Heather Morris.
Inspired by real events, the new series tells the remarkable story of a young prisoner called Lale Sokolov, who was given the job of tattooing identification numbers on fellow inmates’ arms.
Piglets - ITVX
The team behind Green Wing have written this new six-part comedy set in a fictional police training college, where staff attempt to knock recruits into shape.
