BBC News fans have flooded Peter with several silly GIFs and pictures after he missed out on the all-important ‘pot’ while discussing potholes.

At the start of the segment, he addressed the viewers and said: “We’re already being contacted by viewers watching the programme, but we want to know how bad it is where you are.”

“How big is your hole?”

Realising his mistake, the presenter couldn’t hold back his laughter and continued: “ ‘If you can send a picture, Norton’s always in a hole.”

As the clip cut to a man lying in a pothole, Levy continued: ‘If you can tweet me a picture, that would be good as well. The biggest potholes, we’ll be having some on the programme.”

A soap critic shared the hilarious video on X(Twitter), and fans reacted to the blunder with one saying: “ Tell you what, he did very well not to lose it there.”

A second user added: ‘The person monitoring that inbox is about to get some unexpected mail, I imagine.’

A third followed: “Levy knows what he’s doing.”

Another penned: “A great start to the new year.”

The news programme is riddled with blunders and gaffes, and some of them were celebrated as 2023 ended.

Some of the on-air mistakes included BBC News presenter Maryam Moshiri giving the middle finger live on air, unaware that the cameras were still rolling, to BBC broadcast journalist Chetan Pathak getting mixed up over "fist bumping."
