Speaking to The Sun outside Cineworld in Leicester Square, Safiyaa said: "Myself and Ashley will always be united.

"For me and Ashley we’ve always got our purpose and that is Azaylia, we’ll never lose sight of that.

"And you’ll always see us together and you’ll always see us do whatever we need to do to help children fight against childhood cancer, and that is a bond that will last for eternity."

Known for his philanthropic work, Nile, the co-founder of Chic, spoke about his own cancer struggle.

Speaking to The Sun, Nile said: "I'm a two time cancer survivor myself and one of the most amazing things happened to me on the day of my diagnosis.

Nile Rodgers shares emotional cancer story as he supports landmark Kids Like Us

"As I left my doctor's office, a young kid saw that I was pretty distraught and he said, hey, can you come here for a minute?

"So I came over and and he proceeded to tell me every single emotion that I was gonna feel, every type of crazy thought that was gonna go through my head.

"And I said to him, oh, I'm not that like that. No I'm not afraid.

"He said, no, trust me, it's gonna happen. Well, every single thing that kid said to me happened, and, now 13 years later, I'm still cancer free."

Asked the biggest thing he has learned from his cancer journy, Nile continued: "I just, I keep it incredibly simple.

"I just say that cancer is not necessarily a death sentence, it's ugly and hard, but you know, just, just stay strong, strong, do what you gotta do."

In the film, the kids take the lead, sharing their own stories and chatting with each other about their experiences.

It’s all done in such a fun and relatable way, full of the kind of cheeky humour and playful mischief you’d expect from a bunch of everyday kids just being themselves.
