STRICTLY’s Saffron Barker and AJ Pritchard have hit back at rumours they have fallen victim to the show’s infamous curse.
The pair said they found the reports - sparked by photos of AJ, who is in a relationship, putting his arm around the glam YouTuber as they shared headphones - laughable.
Addressing the snaps head on for the first time, northern quickstepper AJ, 24, said: “Oh my God that was hilarious. It makes me laugh so much. It doesn’t bother us. We don’t have time to think of it.
“We’re just walking with headphones in because we’re doing a radio interview. They’re just like photos of anybody walking down the street as normal.”
On passionate-looking clinch in rehearsals, he said: “That’s what we did in the first 10 seconds of the dance. 10 million people saw that.
“The great thing with us is we get on so well. Everybody sees that and thinks what they want to think. We’ve both got the same goal in sight at the end.”
Saffron, 20, added: “We’ve become such good friends and I think we will just be friends for such a long time.”
Instead the social media sensation admitted she has her eye on Spider-Man actor Tom Holland, 23, who AJ revealed as her celebrity crush.
She confessed: “It’s my favourite movie.”
AJ claimed dancer girlfriend Abbie Quinnen, who he went public with in July, is so trusting of the pair that she’s jetted almost 900 miles away to Spain.
Asked if the 23-year-old was upset by the rumours, he said: “I don’t think so. I think she’s in Ibiza at the moment having a great time, so I don’t think she’s too bothered.”
While their chemistry has prompted rumours of romance, Saffron admitted she was intitially worried about being paired up with AJ, who has been on the show since 2016.
She said: “I thought you were going to be really full on, but you’re calm and patient. I did think you’d be quite annoying.”

AJ admitted he picked up on his partner’s wariness, saying: “When we got partnered you just went, ‘heh’. That was it. I was like, ‘you are happy aren’t you?’”
He added: “I think I can be quite snappy sometimes and I think that annoys you. I’m just happy that you’re exactly as I expected, hard-working and willing to sweat and bleed for it.”
The duo are dancing the Paso Doble to Lorde’s Everybody Wants To Rule The World from The Hunger Games in Saturday’s movie week episode.
