THE first episode of Star Trek: Picard was finally unveiled this week, and it ended on a rather epic cliffhanger.
Entitled 'Remembrance', the first instalment of the new television series left fans with open mouths and many questions.
The end of the season premiere ended at a Romulan reclamation site, where viewers saw Soji (played by Isa Briones) and a Romulan named Narek (played by Harry Treadaway) standing on what appeared to be a Borg cube.
Fans were left stunned by this and now executive producer Akiva Goldsman has confirmed it is "both a Romulan base and a Borg cube".
Speaking to TVLine, Akiva said: "Clearly, the Romulans and the Borg are dripping with history in relation to Jean-Luc Picard, so not coincidentally, they exist in our season."
However, he added to fans it's "in a way that is probably not the way you're thinking".

Akiva went on to reveal some more about upcoming episodes, explaining: "For us, the first three episodes are the pilot... By the end of episode one, you’ve met maybe two-thirds of the cast.
"We're starting these relationships, and over the next couple of episodes, they will at least solidify in the earliest form... So the first three episodes of our ten are really the first act."
Fellow executive producer, Heather Kadin, also addressed the cliffhanger and admitted that it was "a weird place to leave after the first episode", but added: "Hopefully it makes people go, 'Wait, what's going on?' And then they have to keep watching."
Star Trek: Picard sees Sir Patrick Stewart reprise his role as Jean-Luc.
The 79-year-old actor originally played the captain of the USS Enterprise in Star Trek: The Next Generation from 1987 to 1994.
He then played the role in a series of Star Trek films from 1994 until 2002 and while he loved the part, he admitted he wasn't keen on returning to it - but then decided to change his mind.
Speaking to The Sun Online at the London premiere earlier this month, he explained: "I know I’m on the record as having said ‘no, no more Star trek. I said goodbye to that, I’m proud of everything we did but I’m done with it'.
"Then [the producers] began talking to me about Star Trek in a way that I never imagined it," he continued.
"As I reflected I began to realise it was something that I had to do. What a smart decision that was. After wrapping filming I was happy with what we’d done."
Star Trek: Picard episode one is available to watch on Amazon Prime now, with new episodes dropping on Fridays.
