‘Talk about ruining a legacy’: Fans react to Spice Girls’ decision to return as a trio for one-off gig as ‘GEM’
Mel B, Geri Horner and Emma Bunton shared a video today where they appeared to rename the band

SPICE Girls fans have been left reeling today after Mel B, Geri Horner and Emma Bunton revealed the three of them were reforming as 'GEM' for a one-off reunion gig.
The trio shared a video to mark the 20th anniversary of the release of their hit single Wannabe and at the end, they captioned it 'GEM'.
In the video, which they posted on a new Geri, Emma and Mel website called Spicegirlsgem.com, they thank the band’s loyal fans for standing by them over the years.
The Sun exclusively revealed the trio is planning to stage a big comeback concert in London’s Hyde Park next year, and they have now confirmed they are back together.
However, fans weren't best pleased that Mel C and Victoria Beckham would not be rejoining the others for the reunion show.
Many took to social media to express their disappointment with one fan saying the girls had "ruined a legacy" by breaking away from the group.
One fan took to Twitter to beg Mel C to join the girls: "@MelanieCmusic PLEASE JOIN THE REUNION. There are no Spice Girls without you."
Someone else said: "How is a spice girls reunion a big thing? Didn't they have a pretty dire reunion a few years ago?"
Another unimpressed fan wrote: "Not amused that the #SpiceGirls are reforming as a trio (GEM) for a reunion concert minus Victoria and Mel C. All or nothing."
Many others agreed with one saying: "Spice Girls GEM? Ain't nobody got time for that. If I wanted to see a band without its proper line up I'd go to a Sugababes concert."
Another added: "Lets face it, without Mel C and Victoria Spice Girls might as well forget it :D wait sorry GEM."
Others were delighted that Mel B, Geri and Emma had reformed with one fan saying: "Totally supporting @EmmaBunton @OfficialMelB and @GeriHalliwell with Spice Girls GEM! Need to see these girls live!"
One Twitter user wrote: "NO WAY is there a spice girls reunion next year oh my."
If the girls go ahead without Mel C and Victoria, it will mark the first time in the band's history they've performed as a three-piece.
It is not yet known whether absent stars Mel C and Victoria Beckham will join the reunion gig, but the three singers reportedly hope to bring them onboard by the time next summer's gig comes around.
Mel did acknowledge the special date today by posting a throwback picture on her Twitter page.
She wrote: "Happy 20th Birthday #Wannabe you haven't aged a bit!"
