Munya Chawawa was born on December 29, 1993, and is a British-Zimbabwean actor, comedy rapper and comedian.
He originally shot to fame on social media, thanks to his popular YouTube and TikTok channels.

Munya is known for his development and portrayal of characters such as a posh drill rapper called Unknown P and the chef Jonny Oliver.
He previously said that he created Unknown P as a "nod towards the appropriation and false ownership of black culture that often happens in western societies".

Munya popularity grew during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, with the main focus being his 2019 Fire In The Booth freestyle, for the parody news sketches he created.
Speaking about his rise to fame, he told in 2023: "In 2018, Jamie Oliver released a jerk-rice video and I saw that it was creating this huge response on the internet. I figured people would take notice if I made a parody.
"The day after I uploaded my “Jonny Oliver” video, I had 30 comments and 16 new followers on Instagram, which was huge for me.

"I refreshed it and had another 60 new followers.
"TV agents had told me I needed at least 30,000 followers for them to even talk to me, so I went at it relentlessly, uploading two sketches a week, based around characters on the news. I got to 30,000 and I overtook all the presenters combined at 4Music.
"That got me a job there, but the week after the channel changed and I was effectively redundant.
"I decided to keep going online. We had an incredible news cycle during lockdown and, as TikTok and Instagram Reels were not yet in full fruition, attention was focused on my videos."

He is doing well for himself thanks to his numerous brand deals including those with Netflix and GiffGaff, and also being signed to Atlantic Records.

What TV shows has Munya Chawawa been on?
Munya has been on multiple TV shows, but most recently he fronted Munya Chawawa: How to Survive a Dictator.
The documentary shows Munya travelling to South Africa to document the life of Zimbabwean leader Robert Mugabe.
In August 2021 the comedian showed off his culinary skills on Celebrity MasterChef 2021, but was eliminated first from the show.
Munya also portrays Choronzon on Netflix's The Sandman.

Munya was part of the Celebrity Bake Off line-up.
Revealing the news on Instagram, he said: "M ON BAKE-OFF, BABY! 🍰🥹 Catch me - ‘Pretezel Papi’ aka ‘Brown Velvet’ aka ‘Ice(ing) Spice’ on Celebrity Bake-Off this spring."
Munya was joined on Bake Off by fellow celebrities including Danny Dyer and Dermot O'Leary. His baking efforts were judged by Paul Hollywood, with hosting duo Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond on hand to offer moral support.

Munya Chawawa appeared on the Celebrity Bake Off spin-off on Sunday, March 17, which aired on 7.40pm on Channel 4.
