Who is Jonathan Cheban?
Jonathan Cheban is a reality TV star, entrepreneur, and publicist known for being part of Kim Kardashian's close circle.
He occasionally makes appearances on Keeping Up With The Kardashians and was on the 17th series of Celebrity Big Brother.
He is the son of a diamond dealer and owns a number of companies in the media and food industries.
Cheban starred on his own reality show, The Spin Crowd, which showcased his day-to-day as a publicist, but it was short-lived despite Kardashian being an executive producer.
He has since launched a Discovery+ show called Foodgod and the delivery service, Foodgod Fresh.
Why does Cheban call himself the ‘Foodgod’?
Jonathan Cheban prides himself in being a big foodie.
In 2017, he legally changed his name to "Foodgod" to bolster his brand and reputation in the food space.
"Food has always been my thing. I eat all day. I love to eat. I have always loved food," he shared with .
"I started sharing food pics before it was the “in” thing to do. I also like sharing my special taste buds with others.
"I know when something is good; I want my friends and followers to experience it."
He also shared that Kanye West played a big part in his decision to legally change his name.
"While at dinner one night, I was busy taking food pics and talking about what to order when my friend said, 'You know what you are, you are a 'Foodgod,'" he continued.
"I wasn’t sure about the name, but it was confirmed while traveling to Iceland with Kim and Kanye.
"We found ourselves in the middle of a mob scene at a food court at the airport. All of a sudden, I hear Kanye shout 'Hey, Foodgod! Can you get me a Diet Coke?'"
"And that was it. I always say he christened it."
How long has Cheban been friends with the Kardashians?
Jonathan Cheban and Kim Kardashian have been best friends for years.
It's unclear how the two met and when exactly they became friends, but Cheban has been appearing in the famous family's reality shows since the early days.
What's more, the Daily Mail noted that he "is believed to have known Scott Disick" since they were kids.
Meanwhile, the "Foodgod" maintains that the Kardashians aren't his only famous friends.
"It’s really weird, because I do have a lot of friends who are famous, but I always knew them way before," he told in 2004.
"I mean, back in the day when Ozzy would play Madison Square Garden, I was sneaking Kelly and Jack into Suite 16. "
"And I’ve been friends with Paris and Nicky since they were kids."
